Intergenerational seeds

As part of the “White Hair Festival” organised by the municipality of Ílhavo, the BioLiving Association had the pleasure of facilitating an intergenerational seed workshop, where seniors could share customs associated with agriculture, while creating unique flowerpots from used material. Once the pot was made, they placed seeds of their choice in a soil bed and watered them to encourage germination. The final result was given to the participants to take home to look after.

Intergenerational meeting to build shelters for wild native animals

Recently, Associação BioLiving promoted an environmental volunteering activity, aiming to involve different generations in wildlife conservation in Estarreja, Portugal

Human pressure on natural ecosystems has been causing the loss of habitats, so it is important that we try to make up for that. Together, this group built shelters for bats, birds, and even bug hotels that were later positioned along the association’s natural reserves Lusitanica

It was a great opportunity to exchange knowledge and skills between the elderly (empirical and more practical skills of how to use tools) and the youngsters (scientific and technical knowledge of biology and ecology).
