Grey4Green is an Erasmus+ project that aims to promote active ageing and contribute to climate action through the involvement of senior citizens in nature conservation volunteering programs and through the capacity of personnel working in the third age sector to develop and implement such programs.

First Grey4Green Multiplier Event: Discovering Belgium Biodiversity
|
On October 10th, ALDA – European Association for Local Democracy hosted the first ‘Effective Ageing and Nature Conservation’ Seminar in Grez-Doiceau, Belgium. The one day event featured a roundtable discussion with experts on the theme of inclusion, and the role of the elderly in society, the importance of volunteering and nature conservations, as well as a guided walk into nature to discover the surroundings of Grez-Doiceau.

Second Grey4Green Multiplier Event: Learning about Environmental Sustainability through sewing and food
|
On October 14th, the Municipality of Lousada organised its multiplier event, with the aim of introducing Grey4Green Project to the local community. The event included two workshops on environmental sustainability: the first one on how sewing can be a form of activism and the second workshop on zero waste and sustainable food. The participants also had the opportunity to discover the native flora, specially the centenary trees in the area.

Third Grey4Green Multiplier Event: Nature for physical and mental health
|
On October 23rd, the Environment Agency of Iceland held the third Grey4Green multiplier event in Reykjavik, Iceland. Thanks to the contribution of experts, the participants gained valuable insights into the importance of nature for the physical and mental health of elderly people.

Fourth Grey4Green Multiplier Event: Many Opportunities in the Danish Environment
|
On October 30th, FO-Aarhus hosted their event on active ageing and nature conservation in Aarhus, Denmark. Indeed, the conference focused on the importance of nature conservation for seniors, as well as their role in a sustainable society.

Fifth Grey4Green Multiplier Event: Empowering Elderly for Climate Action
|
On October 31st, CARDET hosted the fifth multiplier event of the Grey4Green Project in Nicosia, Cyprus. The seminar aimed to engage retired people in interactive discussions and activities on nature conservation and sustainable living. The participants took part in a food activity, in which they had the opportunity to prepare food and dessert using local ingredients, while learning how to grow them.

Grey4Green Final Conference: The Importance of Creating a Framework for Future Nature Conservation and Active Ageing Efforts
|
At the beginning of November, the Final Conference of Grey4Green Project took place in Aveiro, Portugal, hosted by BioLiving. The event featured a roundtable discussion and several workshops on how to actively engage seniors in environmental conservation. In addition, the participants took part in an intergenerational mega-planting and guided tour of a protected natural area.

Grey4Green Policy paper “Unravelling the potential of active ageing for nature conservation”
|
The policy paper collects the main outcomes which emerged throughout the project, which will be useful for policymakers to integrate in their policymaking activity. The research is based on both the oral and written feedback provided by the participants (elderly), the third age personnel, the project partners and all the relevant stakeholders which were involved during the activities.

GREY4GREEN project reached the end of the funding period. Therefore, this newsletter constitutes the final one of the project funded lifecycle.
